With this book, I was able to relay to my 4-year old why we shouldn’t destroy the world’s natural habitats. Using fantastic creatures (and one ordinary snortlepig), Base has created a world where people, in trying to be a part of something wonderful, end up destroying it. Don’t worry! This book is not completely depressing. Base shows how one morning the people wake up, look outside and say, “Why do we live in a place with no trees?” and leave. Thus begins a journey back to a perfectly balanced earth.
Base plays number games throughout, which interested my 4-year old. However, the great pictures kept even my 2-year old in my lap for the entire book.
